DAY 1. Arrival & Check in – 4* Qawra Palace Hotel

Day at Leisure.

DAY 2. Hop On Hop Off

With over 7000 years of history to explore, it can be difficult to find a starting point, with CitySightseeing Malta everything is covered so that you can experience the true flavour of this unique island.

Comprehensive routes that start in Sliema before heading to Valetta and then the choice is yours. Choose the northern route that will take you to explore the ancient citadel of Mdina and the stunning countryside. Instead you could opt for the southern route, that immerses you in the history entirely with stops at various prehistoric temples.

With the comprehensive routes and multilingual audio guides available the toughest decision while exploring the island will be which route to explore first. Your ticket is either valid for a full 24 hours or 48 hours depending on which option you select, offering plenty of time to delight in the diversity of the Maltese Islands.

DAY 3. Prehistoric Temples Tour

Malta and Gozo are home to seven megalithic temples, all of which are designated as world heritage sites by UNESCO. These megalithic temples date back 5500 years ago and are the oldest free-standing stone structures in the world, even older than the Stonehenge and the Pyramids. You will first drive to Ghar Dalam. The history of the cave and that of the islands can be decoded from Ghar Dalam's stratigraphy.
The lowermost layers, more than 500,000 years old, contained the fossil bones of dwarf elephants, hippopotami and micro-mammals. You will then visit Hagar Qim & Mnajdra Temples. The megalithic complex of Hagar Qim is located atop a hill on the southern edge of the Island, on a ridge capped in soft globigerina limestone. All exposed rock on the island was deposited during the Oligocene and Miocene periods of geological time.

DAY 4. Day at Leisure

DAY 5. Christmas Eve & Gozo Experience

After a twenty minute crossing, on setting foot in Gozo you will note that although both islands are similar in history and development, Gozo has a character entirely of its own. Gozo, which is a three hilled island, is greener and more picturesque than Malta.
After a twenty minute crossing, on setting foot in Gozo you will note that although both islands are similar in history and development, Gozo has a character entirely of its own. Gozo, which is a three hilled island, is greener and more picturesque than Malta.
During the tour you will visit The National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta Pinu which is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and national shrine located 700 metres from the village of Gharb. A visit to the Crafts Centre is a must. There you will see stone works, marble, traditional food and local lace. You will then visit Victoria which is the capital of Gozo. Victoria is the name given in 1897 by the British government on the accasion of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. The area around Victoria, situated on the hill near the centre of the island has been settled since Neolithic times. In the centre of Victoria lies The Cittadella, a historic fortified city. The Cittadella also called The Citadel is on Malta's tentative list of future World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, who describes it as a small fortified town. An old prison is located within the city, as are the Courts of Justice. You will reach the Cittadella onboard a trackless train.
After this visit you will stop for lunch in a restaurant in Rabat. Finally you will drive to Mgarr Port via Qala Belvedere where breathtaking scenes can be enjoyed. You will then have a short ferry crossing back to Malta, and will be dropped-off at your hotel.

DAY 6. Christmas Day

DAY 7. Mdina, Ta Qali Crafts Village and Mosta Tour

You will first drive to the city of Mosta. Inspired by Rome's Pantheon, the church in the center of the city was built in the 18th Century. It became known throughout the country in 1942 when during World War II, a dropped bomb failed to explode, thus sparing the lives of some 300 people. This church has the third largest dome in Europe.

You will then visit the town of Ta Qali, located nearby what was once a British WWII outpost, but has been converted to a village for local handicrafts. You will be able to watch local artisans at work blowing elaborate glass art pieces, intricately assembling original silver filigree jewelry, carving the local limestone and many more. This is the perfect place to pick up treasures that will remind you of your Malta visit.
Finally you visit Mdina, Malta's ancient capital. It rests in a very majestic way, on top of a hilltop right at the center of the island. Mdina is also called "The Silent City" because of its literally quiet and narrow streets that give off a quaint yet very homey atmosphere. Mdina is not only considered to be one of Malta's precious jewels, but this ancient walled city is one of the best medieval fortifications. You will see magnificent views of the entire Maltese landscape. In Mdina you will have some time to relax and enjoy the area.
